ABOUT
WONDAER

Wondaer creates original adventure stories for curious kids and kids-at-heart. These stories come alive in a variety of formats: books, interactive reading experiences, and story-driven games.

Wondaer was founded to build imaginative worlds and characters that help us grow braver, more curious, and more confident through story. Stories are more than entertainment. They are rehearsal spaces for growth and change—places where we can safely explore courage, responsibility, friendship, ambition, and wonder.

Our mission is to inspire a digital generation to fall in love with reading through empowering stories and cinematic adventure. In a world where attention is constantly pulled in different directions, we write fast-paced, emotionally honest stories that blend humor, heart, and hope.

ABOUT THE CREATOR

WONDAER

Wondaer is the pen name and creative studio of a storyteller, filmmaker, and father. Wondaer began as an experiment in interactive storytelling and has grown into an expanding universe of original stories, books, games, and fantasy worlds designed to spark the imagination and inspire.

The creator behind Wondaer chooses to publish under a pen name to keep the focus on the stories and protect the creative freedom to explore new ideas. Behind the name is a real person, a real parent, and a small independent studio building imaginative adventures one world at a time.

HOW WONDAER IS MADE

A NOTE ON CRAFT, AI, AND VERY EARLY MORNINGS

Wondaer is one person. I write, design, art direct, edit, and produce everything you see here. It's mostly before sunrise, before my day job, and before my daughter wakes up.

I've been writing since 2000, when I was 12 and printing my own hand-illustrated short stories at the local copy store. Since then, I studied film production and built a career producing commercials to pay the bills, while still carving out time to do what I love. I've written scripts that placed in national screenwriting competitions, spent a year developing a novel with a Simon & Schuster editor, and wrote the original stories that became the Wondaer Library. Everything here is built on ideas, characters, and worlds that I've been developing since childhood, and at this point, a lot of my process is fueled by nostalgia.

In the last few years, I've been incorporating AI into my workflows, and I want to be transparent about how. As a creator, it's been both exciting and challenging, but ultimately, it empowers my creative process.

Nearly all of my artwork is AI-generated. While I occasionally commission custom illustrations, I don't have the budget to hire an art team. The art is what brings my dreams and world-building to life. I develop the concepts, create the images in Midjourney, and edit, refine, and comp them in Photoshop or Keynote. These are personal passion projects. So the honest alternative to these tools isn't different art, it's these projects never existing.

Every story begins and ends with my own writing. I draft endlessly first, then use ChatGPT and Claude as a sounding board to explore, develop and edit, and finally rewrite everything myself.

Everything else (the worlds, stories, characters, game systems, designs, and layouts) are mine. AI never decides what I make, it just helps me make it a reality.

I'm doing my best to be transparent about my process on each project, and will always disclose how everything is made. If you have questions about any of it, I love talking about this stuff.
